I've Been Bullied - Project Objective
I've BEEN BULLIED was created on December 3rd 2011 by Catherine Oshanek, owner and photographer of White Cedar Photography. She began the viral photo project with four hopes in mind.
-To get everyone who has ever been bullied to stand up for themselves and proclaim that they are NOT defined by their bully words
-Showcasing successful people who were able to overcome the negativity associated with being bullied. To tell their stories of personal achievement, along with a photo of them holding their own 'bully' word.
-To push the fact that everyone has said negative words themselves and to urge people to take a personal responsibility for their own voice and actions. Saying negative things back to a bully doesn't necessarily solve a problem. Two negatives do not create a positive.
-And lastly to realize that those who do the bullying (in many situations) have been bullied themselves or deal with their own internal struggles. There is always two sides to a story.
I'VE BEEN BULLIED was created in the hopes of becoming a global viral photo project. Drawing on the attention of celebrities, everyday people, media, politicians, children, parents and teachers.

Self-Bullying
This amazing young Alberta woman speaks out about bullying, and in this video she talks about SELF-Bullying. She speaks about once someone says something bad to you - no matter how small - that comment will stay with you for a very long time and it will play over an over in your head - to a point that you will believe it...that is self-bullying and it is just as tragic and heart wrenching as any other form of bullying. CONFIDENCE...this is what she is promoting and I believe this is something that every teacher must encourage!! It is also something that teacher's themselves must find before they can pass along this message - and campaigns such as these are ways to open eyes and minds to the bully issue.
